Sudan Rules Out War With Ethiopia as Border Tensions Rise

KHARTOUM/ADDIS ABABA (HT): Sudan does not want a war with neighbouring Ethiopia, deputy Sovereignty Council leader Gen Malik Agar has said, amid escalating accusations involving drone attacks and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

Sudanese military officials have accused Ethiopia of allowing the RSF and allied forces to operate drones from Ethiopian territory. Addis Ababa has previously rejected allegations that it provides military or logistical assistance to the group.

The accusations intensified after drone attacks in Sudan’s Blue Nile State, which borders Ethiopia. Relations between the countries are already strained by the disputed al-Fashaga agricultural area and wider disagreements over regional security.

Agar warned against allowing Sudan’s civil war to become a broader regional conflict, while describing the preservation of Sudan’s territorial integrity as a red line. The military-support allegations remain contested and have not all been independently verified.
