Russia Says More Than 1,000 Ukrainian Drones Targeted Its Territory

MOSCOW/KYIV (HT): Russia says Ukraine launched more than 1,000 drones in one of the largest aerial attacks of the war, striking oil, industrial and logistics facilities around St Petersburg and other regions.

St Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov reported that at least one person was killed and five were injured. Fires were reported at an oil terminal, a depot and industrial warehouses, while airport operations were disrupted.

Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed that 1,015 drones were intercepted or neutralised over 15 regions, occupied Crimea and the Black Sea. The full scale of the attack and interception figures were not independently verified.

The strikes came amid tension between Kyiv and Washington over attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. Ukraine says Russia has continued attacking its energy system despite discussions about limiting strikes on such facilities.
