Cairo, (HT) The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Cairo on Saturday to begin an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing strategic cooperation between Somalia and Egypt.
During his visit, President Mohamud is scheduled to meet with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt. The two leaders will hold high-level discussions focused on deepening diplomatic ties, addressing regional developments, and reinforcing collaboration in promoting peace, stability, and the security of critical maritime trade routes.
The visit underscores Somalia’s commitment to advancing its foreign policy objectives through regional partnerships, particularly at a time when the Horn of Africa continues to face complex political and security challenges.
According to Somali officials, the President’s visit to Egypt is part of a broader diplomatic initiative involving multiple countries. These engagements aim to boost international cooperation, safeguard Somalia’s national interests, and reaffirm the country’s sovereignty and state-building progress.
The Somali delegation includes senior government officials and advisers who will participate in meetings and forums designed to expand mutual understanding and long-term cooperation with their Egyptian counterparts.
