Somalia Denies Claims of New Visa Restrictions on Turkish Citizens

By HornTimes News Desk

MOGADISHU (HT): Reports claiming that Somalia has introduced new visa restrictions targeting Turkish citizens are false, according to a verification published by Somali Fact Check.

Türkiye’s official Center for Countering Disinformation said there had been no change to the travel conditions or visa arrangements between Somalia and Türkiye. It described the circulating allegations as misleading.

Somalia requires foreign visitors, including Turkish nationals, to obtain electronic entry authorisation before travelling. However, the E-Visa/ETAS system has operated since September 2025 and applies generally to foreign visitors—not specifically to Turkish citizens.

Türkiye also continues to require Somali ordinary and official passport holders to obtain visas. Available official information therefore indicates that both countries are following their existing visa arrangements, with no new Somali restriction directed at Turkish nationals.
