Federal Government Names New Leadership for Waajid District

Mogadishu (HT): The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of Somalia’s Federal Government has announced a new administration for Waajid district in the Bakool region.

The decision, outlined in an official circular dated March 24, 2026, came after a review of the district’s political and security conditions, along with input from local traditional elders.

The newly appointed officials are:

  • Hasan Abdi Isak (Bootoole) – District Commissioner
  • Mohamed Abdirahman Mohamed (Jugle) – First Deputy Commissioner for Security and Politics
  • Aden Ali Kulow – Second Deputy Commissioner for Social Affairs
  • Ayanle Abdi Dhuh Yare – Secretary of the Local Administration

The ministry instructed the new leaders to begin their responsibilities immediately, focusing on improving governance and public service delivery in the district.

It also urged traditional elders and community stakeholders to cooperate with the new administration to promote stability, effective leadership, and development in Waajid.

The appointments took effect right away after being signed by the Acting Minister of Interior, Ali Yusuf Ali-Hosh.
